SCOUTS DO IT IN TENTS

C

Spent several hours in the Knighton Lane Studios saturday just gone and have made significant improvements to the three paintings Im working on right now. Finally the leg she has folded under her is looking more like it and I think the painting is not far from being completed.

the crosslegged lady IS now completed and Im really quite happy with it. Darks playing off against lights, nice body shape, just enough not there to make it more interesting than if it was all there.........if you see what I mean. Plus, when seen in close up via the camera it is even better.

The colours have changed due to the camera and lighting etc., but I think it stands as it is.

The headless lady is ,though, my favourite and is definitely completed. I love this one and in close ups it just gets better to my mind. But then Im blowing my own trumpet so perhaps you will think diferently. Let me know. Its good to get feedback.

Ive been reading Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. It has inspired me to make a series of works based on the tales. This will keep me occupied for some few months I would imagine.
Talking of being occupied.................. tomorrow, Monday, is the second session at Ellesmere College and I have decided that it may be best to tell them what we are doing rather than simply allow them to choose. They seemed to find it rather hard going understanding what I meant last week, bless them. And, guess what................. I have been engaged for a one day session producing, with the youngsters, a mosaic to celebrate 100 years of boy scouting in Burbage. Have a meeting with the scouts on Tuesday evening to meet them, give them food for thought, and to perhaps arrange a saturday to do it on. Its getting rather exciting at the moment and I just trust that the Universe is leading me slowly into a life of abundance through my artistic endeavours so that my company, ART-CELL, can grow and not only employ me and make me financially happy but also perhaps employ others, if only on an ad-hoc freelance basis. That would be really great and would make me really really happy.
I trust the Universe implicitly in this. I have given myself over to the good auspices of the Universe now and things are looking o.key dokey. Have I mentioned that I am also engaged sometime in May or June to lead youngsters in a local school in a pavement drawing competition, working with them and judging which images to send on to the national competition for the benefit of muscular dystrophy charity. Plus.............. but best not to talk about this one as it isnt definite yet. But as you can see, I think its finally happening for me!
Thats all for now folks, and remember to Love all and hurt none; its the only religion you need.

LITTLE ACORNS

Today I started a new project as ART-CELL. I was approached by V.A.L. to run an art course at Ellesmere College on the theme of volunteering. The students, who all have learning difficulties, volunteered for the project and V.A.L. gave all of them a sketchbook. Next week we enter the art room and begin to make art! Its only for an hour each Monday for the term but its a little acorn.......... and great oaks come from them. The young people, all around 17 years old, seemed a little wary at first, but by the end they all seemed to know my name which augers well. Cant wait for Monday to come around again. I just knew that 2009 would be a good year and so far its started pretty well. In December I had that phone call from an old colleague (Charles Walker-Hazzard) and just a couple of days ago I had a call from Nat, Red and Amy who were having a party in St.Ives ! Thanks girls it was just the tonic................ it went a treat with the gin, lol. Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Red ! Hope it was a really really good one, shame I missed the shenanigans. I wonder if she played the seagull game? its like the bus game but not with buses......... lol. Remember folks, Love all and hurt none, its the only religion you need.

PROMOTED TO PAGE ONE !

Ive just realised that if you google "art-cell" (but without the speechmarks obviously) my website appears on the first page! Thats like being top of the pops ! The first word is HOME and thats me. So cool. Finally I made an impact. I think thats a great start to this year and I firmly beleive that it augers well for me.

ONE OF NINE

Sorry, couldnt resist the Startrek title ! (I lurve Seven of Nine).

Anyway, today was the first time of this year, 2009, that I set foot in my studio space. Once again I worked on the three nudes. Im not sure about the middle one, maybe the head needs more work together with the background but its getting there. The one on the left however.........well......the bent leg continues to annoy me. I may have to amputate it and restart that part. However, the work on the easel..........wow........Im REALLY pleased with this. Since I repainted the bent leg it has improved so much. I knew I was right about it being wrong. It just proves that you cant expect each painting to work. You may have to make several in order to get one fair piece. It was soooo cold again the studio that my nose started to leak...........yuk ! not an image you want to imagine. I couldnt stay long as I just couldnt stand the cold. Not even the hot coffee was doing the trick today. I may be entering some postcard sized works to the I-CANDY gallery in time for their March exhibition where nothing is more than 6 x 4" and costs no more than £10. This would be my second appearance at this Hastings gallery.

Nothing much else to say except to wish you all a very happy new year. We all deserve a great 2009.

and remember folks, Love all and hurt none; its the only religion you need.
